As a locally led Christian church, our beliefs are based solely on the Bible.
Below is a basic (non-exhaustive) summary of what we believe the Bible teaches about God and his desire to have a relationship with us. Do you want to learn more about what all of this means? Contact us about joining a Bible study that will help you learn the basics.
One God
We believe in one God, who has created all things. He exists in three forms: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He loves each and every one of us and he desires to have a relationship with us. (Genesis 1:1 1 Timothy 2:4–6, Matthew 28:19, Acts 17:27)
God’s Word
We believe the Bible is God’s Word, which is true, relevant and applicable to our lives today. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16–17)
Reconciliation Through Jesus Christ
Every single person on earth falls short of God’s perfection. Our sins cause us to be separated from him, now and in eternity. This breaks his heart. (Romans 3:23, Colossians 1:21, Isaiah 63:7–10)
Jesus Christ, is the Son of God, who was born of a virgin woman and lived as a human on earth. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, which the Scriptures predicted as God’s plan to reconcile our relationship with him. After Jesus died, he was buried. On the third day he rose, and after appearing to his followers, he ascended into heaven. (John 1:14, Matthew 1:22–23, 1 Corinthians 15:3–8, Acts 1:1–11)
By sacrificing himself, Jesus took the just punishment for our sins. Through faith, we have the opportunity to respond. When we believe the good news, respond with a heart of repentance and are baptized by immersion in his name, we receive the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is through God’s grace alone; there is nothing we can do to earn it. (2 Corinthians 5:21, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 2:8–9, Romans 6:1–14)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is our Counselor and guides us throughout our lives. While we still retain our free will, God’s power continues to help us grow and mature as believers. (Romans 8:1–14, John 14:26, Galatians 5:22–23)
God’s Church
God’s Church is made up of everyone who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit, are united together in the body of Christ. Every part of the body has an important role to play. (1 Corinthians 12:12–31, Ephesians 4:4)
As Jesus’ disciples, or students, all of us have a job to do. The greatest commandments God gave us are to love him and to love others. Part of that command is to “Go and make disciples of all nations,” which means to share the good news here, and around the world. (Matthew 22:36–40, Matthew 28:18–20)
